Whether you call it a highlighter, a luminiser or an illuminiser, there is no denying that right now, beauty is all about the GLOW. Highlighting and contouring are the single most talked about makeup artist tricks this year and for very good reason. But we’ll let you in on a secret – it doesn’t have to be scary, hard or sparkly.

ModelCo has created the Highlighting Trio, a compact, multifunctional palette that gives skin a beautiful, barely-there luminosity and is all you need to master this cheek trickery in no time. This one handy compact will help give you camera-ready cheekbones, and a fresh glow in an instant. Here’s how…

ModelCo Tip: When it comes to application of the ModelCo Highlighting Trio, we prefer using our fingers so you can blend, blend, blend! And while this product is typically applied after foundation, it can also be used on bare skin for a subtle, sun-kissed radiance that is perfectly suited for long hot summer days.

The basic concept of contouring is that the areas that fall into ‘shadow’ on your face (along the hairline, beneath cheekbones, down the sides of your nose and the jawline) should be accentuated with a darker product, while the middle areas of your face (top of the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, forehead etc) should be tackled with a lighter, highlighting product. Adopting this shadow/light format will ensure your face looks more angular and defined.

To contour:

A makeup artist once let us in on a little secret – that the fastest way to contour the face is to think of applying it down your face in a ‘3’ shape. Armed with the Bronze colour blend two half moon shapes from the top of your forehead to cheekbone, and then from the cheekbone to the jawline. Voila! Sucking in your cheekbones a la Zoolander will assist in this process, accentuating the ‘hollows’ where you want to be applying the bronzer.

To Highlight:

Cheekbones: Gently use your fingers to blend a small amount of Champagne highlighter onto the highest point of your cheekbones, from directly below the middle of your eye and blend it in and up towards your temple.

Under the brow bone: Apply Champagne highlighter just under your brow bone, but above the crease in your eyelid, to give the illusion of larger eyes. Applying under the brow bone will also effectively define your brows.

Inner corner of the eye:  Add just a pinch of Champagne highlighter to the inner corner of your eyes to brighten up dark areas.

Cupid’s bow: Give your ModelCo Party Proof Lipstick a really clean look by applying Champagne highlighter on your cupid’s bow.

ModelCo Tip: You can apply the Champagne shade to collarbones for a lifted statuesque look—perfect for strapless or off-the-shoulder styles.

To add warmth:

Lastly, a dab of Peach Bellini colour on the apples of your cheek will impart a natural flush, pulling the whole look together.

Take a little look in the mirror. See those angles? You were (practically) born with it!
